Where is lazarus 2.2.4 for Ubuntu 22.04.1 in sudo apt install?

(1/1)

dmitryb:
Today is February 17, 2022.

I try to install last lazarus under Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS
using command `sudo apt install lazarus`
But it writes that
`lazarus is already the newest version (2.2.0+dfsg1-5ubuntu1).`

Why is sudo apt install such an old release?
How to update to the current version 2.2.4?

Thats a question you need to ask the Ubuntu managers, Canonical.  U22.04 is a long term release and Ubuntu tend to only update the packages they make if there are security concerns.

The Lazarus developers make current packages available for you to download and you can easily build a current version of Lazarus from source (my recommendation for all but beginners). See https://wiki.freepascal.org/Installing_Lazarus_on_Linux

EDIT: U2204 does have a current FPC, great option is to use that, download the src for Lazarus 2.2.4 and build it. You get a better product unless you want it for just the most basic use. See the link above.
