How reset Lazarus IDE?

My Lazarus IDE is not running any more. I guess it was after I installed a package. Is there any way to reset Lazarus without having to uninstall it?

On Windows, Lazarus create a "lazarus.old.exe" in the Lazarus folder as backup if something bad happen.
I am unaware about other platforms but there I would look at first for such a file to overwrite the broken.

On my linux system, I would look in for a folder named .lazarus in your home directory. Maybe mac is like that?
