Hmm, not so perfect, finally.

Turning of auto stops it picking up word under cursor or selected text.  It is NOT just turning off auto-completion.

Not for me...

Have you changed that in the global IDE options? Tools > Options > Editor > Miscellaneous ? "Find text at cursor" ?
