There are official FPC binary downloads for Linux and Solaris on SPARC here:
https://www.freepascal.org/download.html
. It may be as simple as download, install and off you go*!
* Untested claim, so your mileage may vary...

Apropos building,

is a good start.
If running Solaris, make sure that you have (and are using) the GNU variants of tar, make and so on. You're likely to find that comparatively recent SPARC variants and a comparatively recent OS are OK, I /think/ I was able to do a rebuild on SXCE before it imploded.
