This discussion is moot. Think about it: Why introduce names? It is, for instance, useful when you provide support for
multiple versions at the same time (e. g. in the Debian context
stable and
oldstable). The name is handier for the mortal user in lieu of a string of “abstract numbers”. However, to my knowledge as far as the FPC is concerned, once there is a new release any previous release reaches EOL, thus is not supported anymore. Therefore, assigning names is pure vanity. I think we can skip that.
