Error while linking
« on: November 15, 2021, 10:14:53 am »
Hello everybody,

I have a Raspberry Pi 3B+ with "Buster" on which I had installed Lazarus 2.0.6. It was working fine until my SD card broke. No way to restart it and ... no way to find my backup SD.

So I took a new SD card on which I installed "Buster", then Lazarus according to the same method I had used:

Code: Pascal  [Select][+][-]
  1. LAZARUS 2.0.6 INSTALLATION ON A RASPBERRY
  2.
  3. To install the 3 attached debian packages, you must first make sure you have the libraries: "libgtk2.0-dev libgpm-dev libncurses-dev". If not, install them:
  4.
  5.   - sudo apt install libgtk2.0-dev libgpm-dev libncurses-dev
  6.
  7. Then go to the directory where you downloaded the *.deb files and run successively :
  8.
  9.   - sudo dpkg -i fpc-laz_3.0.4_armhf.deb
  10.
  11.   - sudo dpkg -i fpc-src_3.0.4_armhf.deb lazarus-project_2.0.6-0_armhf.deb
  12.
  13. NOTE: If you want to rebuild everything yourself, all explanations are given in this link :
  14.
  15. - https://wiki.freepascal.org/Build_current_FPC_and_Lazarus_for_Raspbian

Unfortunately, I can't compile, I get a linking error:

Code: Pascal  [Select][+][-]
  1. /usr/bin/ld: can't find -lgtk-x11-2.0
  2. /usr/bin/ld: can't find -lgobject-2.0
  3. /usr/bin/ld: can't find -lglib-2.0
  4. /usr/bin/ld: can't find -lgthread-2.0
  5. /usr/bin/ld: can't find -lgmodule-2.0
  6. /usr/bin/ld: can't find -lpango-1.0
  7. /usr/bin/ld: can't find -lcairo
  8. /usr/bin/ld: can't find -latk-1.0
  9. project1.lpr(23,0)Error Error while linking

I think it comes from the following errors when installing the libraries "libgtk2.0-dev libgpm-dev libncurses-dev" because they generated me the following errors:

Code: Pascal  [Select][+][-]
  1. pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo apt install libgtk2.0-dev libgpm-dev libncurses-dev
  2. Reading package lists... Done
  3. Build dependency tree
  4. Read status information... Done
  5. You can run "*apt --fix-broken install*" to fix these problems.
  6. The following packages contain unmet dependencies*:
  7. libgtk2.0-dev: Depends: gir1.2-gtk-2.0 (= 2.24.32-3+rpt1) but will not be installed
  8. Depends: libglib2.0-dev (>= 2.27.3) but will not be installed
  9. Depends: libgdk-pixbuf2.0-dev (>= 2.21.0) but will not be installed
  10. Depends: libpango1.0-dev (>= 1.20) but will not be installed
  11. Depends: libatk1.0-dev (>= 1.29.2) but will not be installed
  12. Depends: libcairo2-dev (>= 1.6.4-6.1) but will not be installed
  13. Depends: libxext-dev (>= 1:1.0.1-2) but will not be installed
  14. Depends: libxinerama-dev (>= 1:1.0.1-4.1) but will not be installed
  15. Depends: libxi-dev (>= 1:1.0.1-4) but will not be installed
  16. Depends: libxrandr-dev (>= 2:1.2.99) but will not be installed
  17. Depends on: libxcursor-dev but will not be installed
  18. Depends: libxfixes-dev (>= 1:3.0.0-3) but will not be installed
  19. Depends: libxcomposite-dev (>= 1:0.2.0-3) but will not be installed
  20. Depends: libxdamage-dev (>= 1:1.0.1-3) but will not be installed
  21. Depends: libxml2-utils but will not be installed
  22. Recommended: debhelper but will not be installed
  23. E: Dependencies not met. Try "*apt --fix-broken install*" without package
  24. (or specify a solution).

Do you have any idea what to do to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Pierre.

Hi

Line 5 tells you the solution:

Code: Bash  [Select][+][-]
  1. apt --fix-broken install

I had done it, unfortunately, it didn't work. It seems that there is an IP problem.

IPv6?
One System to rule them all, One Code to find them,
One IDE to bring them all, and to the Framework bind them,
in the Land of Redmond, where the Windows lie
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Code is like a joke: If you have to explain it, it's bad

Works for me on IPv6 with curl, but the file -- icu-devtools_63.1-6_armhf.deb -- is not found:

I think it is slowly time to move this to a debian support forum. It goes beyond pascal support.

yes, as marcov suggests, this is not a FPC/Lazarus issue. You have a apt config problem.

You will get better diagnostic information just trying to clean up apt -

Code: [Select]
sudo apt update
is that works with out error, try -

Code: [Select]
sudo apt upgrade
If that does not get you back to a sensible apt response and allow the fix-broken to work, you need to seek help, probably on a raspberry pi forum.  Its an apt problem !

EDIT : how I know its an apt problem ?

Code: [Select]

I would like to thank all of you because with the help of your suggestions I was able to load my missing libraries.
Before asking you, I had used apt-get, but it didn't bring any result. So it seems that apt is more appropriate for this kind of manipulation.

Thanks again to you.

Pierre.
