Free Pascal & Chocolatey
« on: December 29, 2020, 02:17:46 pm »
I have an old laptop. On this laptop I have Free Pascal installed using Chocolatey. However, Chocolatey until now still does not update FP to version 3.2.0. I would like to remain using Chocolatey for this updating process. Could this be arranged (I would not know how to do it myself). If anybody is willing to arrange this, I would be grateful. Thanks in advance.

(Hope this was the right part of the forum to post this request)

https://chocolatey.org/packages/freepascal

On the left side is:
  • Package outdated?
  • Contact Maintainers

Maybe contacting them will already solve it?

When you try to contact them you get the message: "All the owners of this package have chosen not to receive email communication".

Leaving my own message on the Chocolatey webpage did not result in any reaction or change, even after 10 months waiting.

What are you trying to do? I'm not familiar with Chocolatey, but it sounds like they may not be up to date for FP.

The standard install is easy to use.

In which case it looks as though you're volunteering to the Chocolatey owners- whoever they are and whatever their business model- to take over maintenance of that package.

Failing that: abandon Chocolatey, at least for that package, and install from this project's repository. However since you've said absolutely nothing about what OS etc. you've actually got there's limits to the extent that anybody here can help you.

The package maintainer is a "echizenryoma". I don't know that alias.

If you want to become maintainer for chocolatey, mail them and see if you can take over the project on their site.
