Emulating AIX SMIT
« on: July 08, 2021, 10:56:46 pm »
I started this several years ago and have never completed it, but maybe someday I will.  It is a systems management menu, emulating IBM's AIX SMIT, but for Linux.

It was the first thing I had ever done in Pascal and found it nice to use and quick to come up to speed.

Wow, I can remember when we got rid of our AIX machines and the relief that we did not need to use SMIT any more !

But I am sure this project is  good one for someone ....

actually a lot of micro controllers with minimum user interface is using DOS like or even FreeDos command line interfaces now where its very easy to implement..

Making interfaces like this is perfect for such cases where the set or configuration is done on a seldom time line.

we have Laser OD measuring equipment at work that still uses ISA and PCI with a DOS OS and Vesa video libs for the application when it gets started. It has no windows but it does have its own graphics interface which works perfectly.

No Windows Updates every day!  >:(
