Wiki anti-spam protection

(1/1)

trev:
The introduction to the code for this regex example kept being caught by the Wiki spam cop. I eventually tracked it down to any mention of "phone" number or "telephone" number which I had to change to "contact" number before it was happy.

Is this prohibition necessary?

You’ve had this problem already over a year ago.

I don’t think writing “phone” (or “loan”) should trigger the spam filter. There are better mechanisms to detect malicious edits (take a look at Wikipedia), yet installing/configuring/maintaining them might not be as easy as a mere blacklist may be.
