[SOLVED] Struggling to use InternetTools.
Gustavo 'Gus' Carreno:
Hey JR2Media,
I'm rather curious of why so much effort to avoid using Lazarus and/or lazbuild.
With Lazarus all your problems would be solved with it generating the *.lpi.
No need to litter fpc.cfg with so many things...
And for the command line build(your batch file), you could then use lazbuild GoogleScrapper.lpi.
What's your argument on this subject?
And I'm genuinely curious, I'm not criticising you, I swear!! :)
Cheers,
Gus
JR2Media:
I have no problems with Lazarus, I'm using it right now. In the example above I used the terminal so it could be easily reproduced.
I'm new to FP, but not really finding the language difficult. I avoided the language my entire career, and have since come to love it. As I age, I value simplicity and productivity.
I'm getting the hang of Lazarus.
But, you say I can avoid having to deal with fpc.cfg. How? I'm using Lazarus and still defining the unit paths, because otherwise Lazarus gives me an error. Like my current one:
--- Code: Text [+][-]window.onload = function(){var x1 = document.getElementById("main_content_section"); if (x1) { var x = document.getElementsByClassName("geshi");for (var i = 0; i < x.length; i++) { x[i].style.maxHeight='none'; x[i].style.height = Math.min(x[i].clientHeight+15,306)+'px'; x[i].style.resize = "vertical";}};} ---Fatal: Cannot find ZStream used by FPReadPNG. Make sure all ppu files of a package are in its output directory. ppu in wrong directory=C:\lazarus\fpc\3.2.0\units\i386-win32\paszlib\zstream.ppu..
I can fix the error by adding the path to the fpc.cfg but I'm interested to know how I can avoid this with Lazarus.
Many thanks. The help is much appreciated.

Instead of fiddling around with fpc.cfg I would follow the third point in the installation section of https://www.benibela.de/documentation/internettools/: Install the package internettools.lpk (it does not perform any registration, therefore, it is enough to simply open the lpk file in the IDE to let the IDE know the path to it). Then add this package to the requirements of your project, and the Lazarus IDE will know the paths.
