[SOLVED] setting IDE language
« on: April 19, 2021, 07:36:44 pm »
After removing my local user's profile my LcL IDE is partly in Dutch. Tried several things like completely wiping (including users profile) and installing and inspecting all items in the "IDE options" menu. Feel incredibly stupid, but how to revert to English?

Thanks in advance

Hi!

Tools => Options => General

right side, topmost: Language

After the selection you have to restart Lazarus!

Thanks winni, it was exactly what I was looking for.

Actually that tip shows exactly the issue with using native languages when looking for help.
There's no "Tools"-menu.

Menu: > Hulpmiddelen > Options... > Omgeving > Algemeen > Taal
Change: Automatic (or English)
To:  English [En]

Menu: > Bestand > Herstart

Hi all, I just installed Lazarus and new to this Forum.
I'll likely have a lot of questions.

Hi Macharello!

Sometimes you Dutch really have strange vocabularies.

Omgeving & Algemeen & Taal make no problems because they are near to flat german that I also speak.  But "Hulpmiddelen" is a strange thing.

And now we come to the only interresting chapter of the Bible:
The Babylonian Confusion ...

Strange is the norm.

I suspect "Hulpmiddelen" is a contraction of Help+Means (which brings it slightly back to flat German).
It basically means "a means to an end", or just "Tools"... in Dutch better known as "Gereedschap"...

Don't get me started on Windows. Lucky me, I allow myself a transfer to Linux - and that's why I *need* Lazarus.
First toy problem already runs happily on the desktop.
Talking about Babylonia Confusions: .... that terminal though.

Regards, Macucaracha
...or Marchello.
