[solved] OPM - LAMW installation failed
« on: February 27, 2021, 10:27:39 am »
I cannot install LAMW using Online Package Manager. It said: Cannot download package: "LAMW.zip". Error message: "Error reading data from socket". But actually it almost finished downloading it: 55,0/56,7 MB. I tested it twice.

Tested on a fresh installed virtual machine:
Ubuntu 18.04.5
Lazarus 2.0.10 64-bit GTK2

Was it a temporary connection issue or a bug in the installation script?

It works fine at my side, however LAMW from OPM is old. I will update it soon. Please also note that LAMW does not support Lazarus trunk.
Nowadays the best way to install LAMW is via LAMW Manager v0.3.1, you can find it here: https://github.com/DanielOliveiraSouza/LAMW4Windows-installer. Linux is also supported. LAMW Manager install everything for you jdk, sdk included. I tested a few weeks ago on window, the install was flawless.

PS: I updated LAMW in OPM. Tested with Lazarus 2.0.10(windows),  works fine.

Thank you for telling me there is a LAMW Manager for Linux.

Today I set a virtual machine for Ubuntu 18.04.5 and had Lazarus 2.0.10 properly installed. Download and run that script. Everything seemed okay but after about 10 minutes I got a "Unknown Host dl.google.com: Name or service not known". This Sunday is not my lucky day.

Does anyone have suggestion to fix it?

This thread should considered as solved.

I started a new thread for the problem, which is not OPM related.
