So are you saying that you simply went to Project -> Project Options -> Config and Target, and choose "Linux" from the scroll options under Target OS-T, and you did not get any error?

Perhaps you misunderstood me.

I said that I built fpc and lazarus trunk first on Windows, then installed the crosscompiler for Linux. Then I built a test project which I run on Linux successfully.

I described my experience here (the article is in Russian, but Google translator does an excellent job with its functions. Therefore, you will quite easily understand its meaning):
