Nero 5 (DOS graphical chess program ported to ptcGraph)
« on: October 30, 2020, 12:44:29 pm »
Hello!

Nero 5 is a graphical chess program written in Pascal by Jari Huikari.

The original program was written for the Turbo Pascal compiler and the DOS operating system. The new version of the program is based on ptcGraph unit, and can be compiled for Linux and for Windows.

Download: nero5.zip

Best regards.

Hello Roland!

Congrats, it works very well here on Linux 64.

(But, like with all your chess engines, it always bites me, I did have a little hope because the engine in not so fast than your others, but no, Nero5 always wins against me.)

That looks good.
Thank you for sharing it.

I am very bad in chess. I dare not to challenge it.

Same for me but what I find very good in Nero5 is the F2 key.

With it, the engine plays for you and for me, incredibly, it is nearly always different that was I think  :-[.

Thank you. But in fact I didn't do much, except replace Graph with ptcGraph.

Five seconds (the default time for the computer move) is much. You can change that value with with -/+ keys.  :)
