Missing Reply button
« on: August 06, 2020, 10:04:32 pm »
Does anyone know what causes a forum posting to lack a Reply button?
I am not able to reply to jcdammeyer's post today at 18:53.
If I were able to reply, I think he just needs to know that in objfpc mode methods require a prefixed @ to be called, which Delphi mode dispenses with.
i. e. what is required is
Code: Pascal  [Select][+][-]
  1. CommConnection.OnRxMsg := @SerialRxData;

Because it's a closed thread. You can close your own threads or a moderator can do it as well.

@howardpc:
As stated by lainz. I tried to post the same answer as yours and was also confronted by it.

I marked it to the moderator with the question as of why it was locked. No idea if you can lock your own thread, otherwise I fail to see what's wrong with the question.

I was about to post an answer to jcdammeyer's post as well, when I noticed the thread was locked.

Seems to be something going on today, because 2 separate threads have been locked today:

Nothing strange with that. I've locked some of my threads.

Maybe he noticed he knows the solution and closed it.

And about the other post that was closed, it seems that there was some kind of "conflict" there, so maybe was closed to stop that.

The author itself closed that one, because they were not happy with the position of us core devs.

@howardpc (and others)
fwiw the thread seems unlocked. Feel free to do the honours howardpc, in case you still wish to do so.

edit: @howardpc   :P ;)

I checked my post yesterday to see if there were any replies and was surprised to see that there was a lock symbol ICON.  Not sure why it happened.  Once I figured out how to unlock it I did that right away.

I did try the @ in front of the method name.  It didn't appear to work but I may have also done a number of other things at the same time and been distracted.

I checked the moderator log, and moderators haven't locked threads yet in august, so this is all on the OP's, intended or not.

I'm pretty sure I was the one that did it.  My ASUS laptop is getting old and at times the touch pad moves the mouse without being touched.  It's quite possible that the lock   checkbox was ticked inadvertently.  I will be more careful in the future.  And the new HP laptop is almost ready to go so this ASUS will be delegated to monitoring something...
