MySQL problem
« on: March 03, 2008, 09:29:10 am »
Hi,

I'm trying to make a connection to a MySQL server, using the TMySQL50Connection component, in an application for MacOS 10.5 with carbon.
The application compiles OK, but when I try to activate the connection, I get the following error:

Can not load MySQL library "libmysqlclient.so". Please check your installation.

I couldn't find this file on my system, so I downloaded a MySQL server installation package for Linux, and there it was. But, what to do with it?

I have found several threads on this topic, but did not find the answers to the following questions:

1. Where do I have to place the libmysqlclient.so file, so that the above-mentioned error is solved? I tried a lot of places (a.o. app folder), but without success.
2. If this is some system folder, how to solve this when deploying my application? Do I have to provide this file, and install it there?
Is there a way to avoid this?

Thanks,

Jaco
