Hi

I downloaded the compiler file for Freepascal from source forge: fpc-3.2.0.i386-win32.exe.

During the installation my virus software, Bitdefender, stopped the installation and indicated there was a trojan,

"The file C:\FPC\3.2.0\bin\i386-win32\is-0V1K5.tmp is infected with Gen:Trojan.Heur.TP.gyW@bagP5ah. The threat has been successfully blocked, your device is safe."

So I erased the installation file, scanned my system and everything seems ok.  I know some have reported similar issues and it has been suggested that comparing the checksum of the original file to the downloaded file my indicate that it was tampered with.  So my question is where do I find the checksum of the original file, and how do I check the check sum of the file I downloaded?  I am running windows 10.

Thank you.

Jack

When you go to the sourceforge page, click on the "i" icon on the right of the file line and it will show you the (among other things) its SHA1 and MD5 hashes (see attached image).

You can check with any "checksum"/"hash" program for your platform.
Turbo Pascal 3 CP/M - Amstrad PCW 8256 (512 KB !!!) :P
Lazarus 2.0.8/FPC 3.0.4 - 32/64 bits on:
(K|L|X)Ubuntu 12..18, Windows XP, 7, 10 and various DOSes.

Here are two native options for checking various checksums and hashes:

I learned how to check the check sum and was able to download the file and verify it was the same as the original.  I used a program MD5_and_SHA_Checksum_Utility.

Thank you Lucamar and ASBzone for your help!
