Personally I'm very content with the current colors.

themes are per user. You can use what ever you wish and the site can steel use this colors as default. users that prefer darker colors can choose to use a dark theme if installed.

In my opinion, Eljo made a very good proposal.

If it were possible to apply dark themes to the Forum I would be very happy. Whenever possible, I have always used dark themes in all applications, Operating Systems and sites.
Since it would be a user choice, I imagine only for registered users, it seems to me a very democratic proposal.

Otto.

Kind regards.

+1.  I like dark themes as I find it easier to look at.  Adding it to the configuration will be a good thing.

I use Dark Reader on both Firefox and Chrome, but if the forum has built in support it's better.

These dark themes are nice but should be on a per-user basis.
function GetRandomNumber: integer; // xkcd.com
begin
GetRandomNumber := 4; // chosen by fair dice roll. Guaranteed to be random.
end;

They are. You can see it by going to "Profile->Forum profile" and selecting "Modify profile->Look and Layout": the first option there is "Current theme", which applies only to you. ATM you can only select the default theme because that's the only one installed.

Great. This would be a sensible entry point for additional themes.

Now that is the  pandora's box opening. I assume that I just got denied. My proposal was of the "light and dark theme" not community driven theming, there are resources to be considered storage admin time and all those costs.

Oh well. that was fun.

I think you didn't understood:  An user cannot change the theme if such theme isn't installed in the server.  We're asking to server admin(s) to install a dark theme.

I don't think they will do. All of the SMF based forum I have seen use the default theme.

You could just use Dark Reader extension like me.

I'm happy with the current theme but now that pandora's box is already open I would really like to see a responsive theme to view the forum on my phone. Looking at it there is a pain in the ... right now.

If the admins decide to actually spend some time and install a theme then I suggest to install

wGame https://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?lemma=2943

It has all three features requested so far it has light and dark colors and from a very quick test it seems to handle smaller sizes as good as the default one but I do not know if I would call it  "responsive".
I don't think they will do. All of the SMF based forum I have seen use the default theme.
I understand I made the original recommendation.

You could just use Dark Reader extension like me
It does not work with firefox it crashes in this forums and shows the message that an addin slows the browser down...

Now if everyone that cares to see a theme install made a recommendation of his/hers favorite theme and enough themes are proposed, then we can start a small voting process on what you would like to see included.

Keep in mind that I do not think the admins will even consider installing themes at this point so this is more of a "lets have some fun selecting a theme".
