IDE notebook tabs suddenly changed
« on: March 30, 2020, 09:19:06 pm »
Using Lazarus IDE on Windows, all of a sudden, the notebook tabs of the different files opened in the editor have changed appearance -- before they were regular tabs, now they are plain text with a different background color.

See the attached image: above is an example of regular tabs, and below is how the tabs now look in my IDE.

I looked everywhere but I cannot find any options or setting for changing the appearance back to regular tabs.

Can anyone kindly suggest how to change the appearance back to regular tabs?

Thanks!

It happens to me sometimes, right click on any tab and select options, then restore to default values.

right click on any tab and select options

There's no such "options" menu item. If I right click I can only "close tab", or "move to" or "clone to".

I'm sorry, I thought you meant the tabs of the Lazarus IDE.

I do not see an options menu when I right click on an editor tab on my lazarus installation either.

Is it possible that a recently installed addin might be responsible for both behaviors you two describe?

Not in my case. The tabs appearance changed suddenly, while I was typing something in the editor, I must have accidentally pressed Ctrl-something-something and the regular styled tabs disappeared and were replaced by plain text, like some "flat" buttons.

Right-clicking on the tabs themselves opens a small popup menu without anything useful for this purpose.

Right-clicking on the editor and then "Options" is the same as Tools > Options > Editor, but that also doesn't contain any setting that I could find that changes the appearance back to regular tabs.

Do you have any packages installed?

I noted, that the vertical order of (pseudo) tabs, and toolbar changed. The Tabs are now above the editor toolbar.

Try to start your IDE with an empty config (-pcp or --pcp)
lazarus.exe -pcp=d:\empty_folder

You can later switch back to your current config, by starting without that option.

Looks like this: https://wiki.freepascal.org/Package_Tabs

SOLVED, thanks!

I uninstalled the Package_Tabs and that solved the problem.

Thanks again!
