Thanks both.

DevEric69, the tutorials are  festra.com/fp/sqlite01.htm through to 05.htm. I am experimenting now- adding bits, taking bits off to see what changes they make. Now I've got to this point, a lot of what I'm reading in the manuals (Delphi, but still close it seems) is making sense.

I know there are wikis for Lazarus, but I find a lot of that goes straight from the absolute basics to very complex, missing out the bit in the middle.

JanRoza, I understand the point you're making, thank you. I don't think I'm going to need to worry about distributing it just yet. Is it normal to leave the DB in the same project folder, or in a sub folder?

Again, my thanks for your kind help. I hope one day I can repay that with other new starters.

Derek

I mostly use a subfolder in the ProgramData folder as it is a reasonable constant location that is available on every Windows system but a good alternative would be a subfolder in the users folder.
OS: Windows 10 (64 bit) / Linux Mint (64 bit)
       Lazarus 3.2 FPC 3.2.2
       CodeTyphon 8.40 FPC 3.3.1
