But there are a lot of new forum members which might not know about the whole discussion.
And for them there is a recent (just a few days old) thread. It is locked, but they can read up on it.
And it is not democratic!
That is an odd remark.... Why would or should it?
Even in a democracy (unless it is socialist or similar) the concept of ownership exists. Car manufactures decide what cars (colors, length, ...) they produce. They own the factory, they decide. No public vote.
The forum is for the public, but not owned by the public.
It is provided for on-topic discussions (and usually the judgment on what is allowed is very lenient, compared to most other forums).
Sometimes it is borderline what is or is not "on topic".
But as pointed out: The past has shown that the particular topic will not yield any results or news. It will (not proven, but likely) quickly decent into a "rant" of personal opinions, and personal views about moral and ethics. None of that is on topic, nor helpful to anyone using FPC/Lazarus.
Maybe 1 in 100 posts on the issue would have been worth saving. But the moderation effort to remove the rest, would have been too much work (and created even more controversy).
Please feel free to setup your own forum for the continuation of the topic.
