Hi!

Assuming the problem  is located in China:

There it is now 8:00 in the morning. They just got up.

Btw: Only one timezone for whole China!

Winni
You're wrong, it's currently 20:30 in China, they are ahead. I'm in England now and it's 12:30, near food time !
The forum seems fine for me at the moment. Took a few seconds for the quote option to work but the site itself loaded very quickly.

They are 8 hour away from UTC!

Operation normal.
Time: 08:19 CET
Still OK at 18:22 CET
Guests about 350
Keep your fingers crossed that whatever was done fixed the problem.

No, still very slow here (appr. 30seconds to load this page), and timeouts as well.

With me it's speedy as in the good old days, no waiting at all.
Hope it stays this way.

979 guests and after reload 845 guests. There is something wrong with the Forum software or the sql server behind. And the forum software is also 3 years old.
greetings Maik

I would love to see an update of the forum software.
Hopefully that would also have a mobile view (responsive version).
Been waiting ages for that.

I like the oldskool look and feel of this forum, ironically it actually works better on mobile than a lot of "responsive" stuff (AMP and Reddit come to mind as particularly ass).

What would be cool is a forum application written in Pascal like the D Forum is written in D. And that is the fastest-loading forum I've ever used.

My opinion is that there is/are bots that do click (simulate click) on links to issues.

Apart from the many guests, the view counts have shot up on things that would not have much more that a 100 views in the normal lazarus website operation. Heated discussions do not usually go much higher than 150 views, maybe 200.

An example, if you look at Lazarus » Forum » Free Pascal » General, 2nd page :

you have the "Sorting an array?" subject with 12190 Views this is not normal for such subject.

In the 10 minutes during which I typed this message, guests count went from 527 to 345 and now back to 416.
12 minutes later 527.

My two cents.

That is probably the result from some hacking bot trying all variants of sql injection. Today I captured one when running. We now have a ban rule for those patterns

Excellent! Hope this will protect the forum.

Indeed, it's good to have this great forum available again.
However, I only hope there will be no false positives, as ~2 years ago I was unable to access (except than with proxy) it
because (afaik) my whole ip subnet was banned by whatever reason (probably another botnet worm).

The sad part is that abusive host's owner couldn't even know his machine is a zombie.

I had a look at the first page of the Free Pascal subforum and found that:

FPC 3.0.0 "Pestering Peacock"  has amassed 52950 views!!!!

Must be botted.

But the forum is back in working order now! THANK YOU!

That was not a ban or block. When setting up the server I made an error with the netmask of the server. Your ip was in the same /16 subnet as the server. (I entered a /16 as subnet instead of a /24). It took some time to detect the pattern of ips not able to connect
