No it is not. This is an approximation of the platform's API anyway. E.g. on *nix the return value of the native thread function is a Pointer while on Windows it's a DWORD. On other platforms it might be LongInt. And it does not matter whether a pointer is cast to a signed or unsigned type, cause if it should really be a pointer then you'll likely cast it back to a Pointer anyway.
