To reproduce the bug:

1. Open the demo app: AppDownloadServiceDemo1 and build it. (Versions 14 to 29)

2. Test the app on phones running Android 6,7, and 9 -- everything works fine. (That's API 21 and greater)

4. Test the same APK on a phone running Android 4.2.2 (i.e. API 17) and the demo doesn't work. When the download should take place, the method jDownloadService1.Start() seems to return quickly, and no downloaded file gets created.

I tried a few more times, back and forth, using two phones, with Android 4.2 and Android 7, same thing: On the older Android phone nothing happens.

All permissions are enabled on all phones, etc.

Am I missing something? Show I change something in the manifest to make the older version work? Or something else?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
