One current "best" way is to use pas2js together with the back-end tooling from fcl-net and fcl-web and other packages from the standard distribution.
Best effect is fpc 3.2.0 or higher. Pas2js is great for both serverside and client side scripting.
Furthermore, Lazarus has built-in support for it. (and there is even great additional - commercial - software available from TMS software: you can see it as a show case for what is possible to do with pas2js )
