In Praise of Syncro Edit
« on: October 09, 2019, 11:43:49 pm »
Syncro Edit is the coolest thing I've seen on an IDE. You select a block of text in which there are variable names you want to change. Enable Syncho Edit by clicking on an icon. The selection highlight color changes and you are now in Syncro Edit mode.

As you're typing in the change to a variable name each occurrence of that variable name changes "synchronously" as you type.  It's really cool and leads to some great looking code very quickly. I'm looking at code I wrote 5-10 years ago and some of it is an abomination. Syncro Edit to the rescue.

Yes, I use this feature too. It's really useful for improving code quality. It makes renaming variables very easy. Before knowing this feature I used find and replace, but this one is better.
