Windows GPS option
« on: May 19, 2020, 11:19:06 am »
Hi, Currently looking at options for GPS to work on windows where there is no cellular or wifi

Is there a USB GPS option that lazarus can connect with?

Many standalone gpses are simply USB serial devices.

IIRC I had a sirfstar III gps running that way once.

Unfortunately, it is difficult to get the stand-along GPS data into the Windows location services, so Microsoft Maps and other apps can read the data smoothly.  If anyone knows how to write a driver to do this, I would be very interested.  There is one commercial product that doesn't work universally.
