Hello,
I've tried most of the libraries referred to here - as long as they were "data aware". Zeoslib is under fairly active development - testing snapshots more frequently than monthly - the latest 07-Nov-2007. A second beta 6.6.1 released in February.
I've only used them with Firebird 2, since I've pretty well given up on MySQL and uninstalled it.
You'll need a recent Lazarus nightly snapshot and you may be a little frustrated. I've been using the Oct 30th one, since I couldn't install zeos on the Oct 31 / Nov 01 snapshots, but that's probably changed over the last week or so.
Since I'm using quite a few components trying to stay up to date with the nightly snapshots is kind of tedious, but I try to keep one around that has worked in the past when I experiment with newer ones.
Another interesting package is rxfpc. At least some of the data aware controls in the version from Sep 1 need to be enabled / disabled manually since they don't respect the "autoedit" setting.
If you're using Windows Vista, see my thread about installing components under Vista. If you're using XP you should have no problems. If you're using Linux, I've only tried version 0.9.22 there so none of these components can be used. They require features not found in FPC 2.0.4
Good luck,
Doug
