Can I force Lazarus to store relative search paths only?

I noticed that Lazarus on Linux always stores relative search paths. Absolute paths are converted to relative paths. However, on Windows absolute paths are stored.

Is this intended behavior? Can I force Lazarus to store relative paths on Windows somewhere?

I think I can safely conclude that I can't set how paths are stored.
