How about those massive JEDI libraries

The JEDI libraries contain a huge no of vcl components and routines and they are all open source.  :D

Would be good if we could start porting them over - I need to get my hands on the outlook style sidebar component...

As well as the JEDI libraries the old TurboPower libraries and component packages are also now on SourceForge.

Not having experience with Lazarus could somebody more in the know describe the possibility of using such packages in Lazarus? Also, are there any projects or individuals already looking into porting such packages? Is porting the correct term, or is it more an issue of getting core/base functionality/components in Lazarus working before packages like JEDI can be brought across?

Just curious.

The Jedi Code Library is already FreePascal compatible. The JediVCL is not compatible yet.
The JVCL is compatible with Delphi 5-7. VisualCLX support for most components.

We do seek a volunteer to try to port to Lazarus.
Please speak up at news://forums.talkto.net/jedi.vcl
