Yes, it's poor Cocoa support by LCL  :(

But swift code has advantages:
  • Easy publishing application to App Store.
  • Easy porting to iOS platform (I'm going to do it soon).

I would like to make a donation to foster the development of the Cocoa widgetset. How do I do this – via the Lazarus Foundation or in form of a Bounty?
function GetRandomNumber: integer; // xkcd.com
begin
GetRandomNumber := 4; // chosen by fair dice roll. Guaranteed to be random.
end;

Bounty exists: http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Bounties#Cocoa_bounties. Foundation is dead I think.

You can make it, send $ to Dmitry.
Ask his Paypal from him, private message to "skalogryz".
He makes Cocoa patches.

Option2: send private msg to "felipemdc" (not active for months).

I would prefer to do it via the foundation – if it isn't dead, of course.

No way to do via foundation, only via Paypal to authors.

I think best way to refresh Lazarus/macOS is porting Lazarus IDE to macOS/Cocoa.

Poor Cocoa support by LCL, and next to no objective pascal tutorials and samples?

skalogryz, by the way, thank you for your RichMemo component, without it I could't make my Unbound Bible!

The Lazarus IDE is already (being) ported to Cocoa, isn't it?.
I tried it with Lazarus 1.8.2 which was horrible.
But the trunk version of the IDE (as Cocoa) as a lot of improvements.

Install it with fpcupdeluxe and you can choose the Cocoa variant/installer.

It is also possible to build very simple Cocoa applications with Lazarus 1.8.2, but many features are still unsupported. The Cocoa widgetset is still not suitable for professional development.
