Is it Object Pascal a "features" modern languaje?
« on: December 20, 2017, 05:32:50 pm »
I think it's a old good language with all modern features.

But this developer thinks that Object Pascal is not a modern language : https://github.com/UltraStar-Deluxe/USDX/issues/279

What do you think?

Well, he doesn't specify how it's not modern. Probably the best thing for you to do if you object to that statement is simply to fix the problem and post the changes - if it's easy as you claim, then that should shut him up.

Otherwise, I think you've just started a thread where all the usual grumps will weigh in - nothing will change.

I actually did some effort today to explain a beginner with Pascal his problems using very modern Pascal features:
http://forum.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php/topic,39349.msg269787.html#msg269787

It is an old language, but is has plenty of modern language features. (More so than plain C)
Specialize a type, not a var.

waste of time. Just a string of keywords with out any actual information at all.

If he doesn't even know that Object Pascal has threads, he's not even a modern Pascal programmer. Let him be with his past knowledge.

Should you really care about someone who can't even get the name  ("objectIVE Pascal") right?

Thank you mates! I'm really very proud about Object Pascal and community... Every project/idea I had is developed under this language without problems or limitations. This kind of messages really are hitting me hard.
