BoxCast: Web app with map and Pascal backend
« on: June 11, 2017, 05:56:07 pm »
I've added another example to the occasional series of GIS and mapping apps here:

BoxCast uses the Mapbox GL Javascript library for the client (browser) part of the app
and a Pascal CGI app and Pascal dynamic library for the backend (server) part of the app.

If you've been wanting to get more involved in creating Web apps, mapping is certainly a fun way to get started. And Mapbox GL is certainly fun and fairly easy to use, and powerful when coupled with the online Mapbox Studio for designing maps interactively without any programming.

Mapping is just about everywhere these days on the Web and I'm intrigued by full-feature mapping apps like this, for real-time tracking of riders in a cross-country bike race that's going on now:

Quite a bit going on there. It would be fun to see something at that level done with Mapbox on the frontend and Pascal on the backend.
