Cannot install on Mint
« on: April 21, 2016, 09:29:31 pm »
Have downloaded and installed the three deb packages, installed (in this order) fpc and fpc-src.  Lazarus fails every time with:

Error:Dependency is not satisfiable: fpc (>= 3.0.0) | fp-compiler (>= 3.0.0)

I've checked  SW Manager and it says both fpc and fpc-src are installed ( I got no errors when installing them, both said all dependencies satisfied.)

Running Mint 17 with:
fpc_3.0.0-151205_i386.deb
fpc-src_3.0.0-151205_i386.deb
lazarus_1.6-0_i386.deb

How can I fix this problem please?  Many thanks.

Hi,

do you mean lazarus deb package istallation fail?

If it is happened during Lazarus start, please check the path to fpc and fpc sources.
Lazarus 2.2.6 - OpenSuse Leap 15.4, Mageia 8, CentOS 7

Lazarus 1.6 needs fpc 3.0 versions which are not available for debian based OS...just try an older version!

FPC 3.0 surely is available for debian based OS.

@electron1948, the problem is probably with the distro packages.
Download the DEB packages provided by Lazarus project instead from
  http://www.lazarus-ide.org/
Uninstall all earlier experiments before installing them.
Mostly Lazarus trunk and FPC 3.2 on Manjaro Linux 64-bit.

They are portable. :)
You can install FPC using its script instead of distro package.
Then get Lazarus from SVN (either trunk or fixes_1_6) and build with one "make" command.
Recommended!
I used the FPC script installation in many distros but now I use Manjaro which has its latest version.
Mostly Lazarus trunk and FPC 3.2 on Manjaro Linux 64-bit.
