I tried very hard to get BGRA-for-fpGUI going in Linux.

no bloody chance. What is the trick to do a fresh working install ? I get compile error all the time.

here is the solution :

  fpgui_source-1.2.tar.gz    latest from sourceforge breaks

fpGUI-master.zip  (v 1.4.1)  from github works right away

Here is the chessboard with an arbiter, an engine and a book.

http://www.eschecs.fr/fichiers/eschecs-freepascal-2.2.zip

Hope you will like it.  :-)

well now that I can compile the OP, I found neither work in Linux.

eschecs  does not compile in Linux since it " uses Windows;" and does not link without.

the OP's project really does not do much in Linux (chessboard = black square even after "flip view").

"simple chess GUI" (see my other post) is clearly  far superiour to this project, when it comes to functionality.
