stand-alone IDE

Hi,

There is some plans to separate the IDE part of Lazarus from the RAD part? (i.e. providing an IDE to write non-GUI apps).  Since FPC IDE is unmantained and Dev-Pascal and other Pascal IDEs are plataform specific, I think it'd be a good idea to separate this part of the source and release it alone, if it is easy.

I don't  think there is any need to do so.

If you don't want a RAD, choose program or custom program as apllication type. No forms will be opened and you can close the object inspector.  So I don't see much advantage in releasing a lazarus wihtout RAD, unless you are working on computers with little memory.

So IMHO lazarus is perfectly suited to write non-gui apps too. If you think differently, tell me (with reasons).
