Disable 'Caret past end of line' by default
« on: July 01, 2014, 11:20:14 pm »
Hi all,

I'd like recommend that the 'Caret past end of line' be disabled by default. I've never used any text editor/ide that would just position the caret anywhere you click (in a blank line). I think this should be disabled by default. Anyone who wants this feature will go looking for it, but being on by default may deter some people who are just checking out the IDE (from N++ for example).

Sorry I have to vote against this motion.

It is a very usefull fetaure which enables you to scroll the cursor down and stay on the same x-postion, even if you scroll pas shorter lines than the one above.

I agree it should be disabled by default. It seemed some strange at the beginning for me.

It is a very usefull fetaure which enables you to scroll the cursor down and stay on the same x-postion, even if you scroll pas shorter lines than the one above.

You can keep the X-position even with this feature disabled.

Yes. Just check the "Keep X-position" on the Editor Options, and it will maintain the horizontal position of the cursor, IF the line is large enough.

I know i would be first to find options to enable that feature again  ::) It's a feature i would expect from any programming editor.
