I use lazpaint to do something the gimp cannot do. Which is make high quality font templates.

Lazpaint has a bug where entering text slows to a crawl after typing three lines of text in the box. It can be worked around just by typing something into a text editor and pasting it. Does anyone else have this problem or try duplicating it? I am running a custom Ubuntu 18.04 LTS cinnamon install but I don't think that matters.

I was aiming at delaying the redrawing of the screen, so that it would not display the text for each character typed, avoiding an increasing delay.

Is it that this feature does not work?

Text takes a full second to buffer around the fourth line. The more I type the slower and more difficult text entry comes.

If the text was fluent, it would make my job easier and I can introduce power people to this program for it's unique potential to make graphic text super easy.

I am trying to optimize the text so that it would not redraw the entire text.
