5dpo: tries to open /dev/ttyUSB0 instead of COM1
« on: January 29, 2014, 04:42:27 pm »
Hi,

Windows 7

Trying to use the serial port. After reading various threads on this site, I compiled / installed Sdposerial.

Running the test program I get an error 'could not open device dev/ttyUSB0' (Linux?).

Thinking I needed synaser, (listed under 'uses') I compiled and added that to the project (there were warnings of a duplicate file if I were to install it). No difference.

I looked through the source files looking for an erronous IFDEF section to no avail.

As a complete noobie, I realise I don't know what the heck I'm doing, so any help or comments at all would be very much appreciated!

There is a Lazarus program here that uses Synapse (and SynaSer):

Panic over.

It was all me.

I changed the relevent property in the object inspector to 'COM1'. Compiles and runs ok now.

Thanks anyway
