Is it possible to make a Linux screensaver in Lazarus?

Is it possible to make a Linux screen-saver in Lazarus?  I've searched but not found any source code examples.  I have Lazarus/fpc running OK on my Raspberry Pi, so that's a start, and I have a program which does what I want my screen-saver to do.
