And i will also insist on something very important for me.

Lazarus has nothing to do with democracy/oligarchy/aristocracy.

Lazarus is a OPEN project.

That means that it is a project that can be seen by everybody.

That means also that nobody must be afraid to propose something, even if it could hurt some guru.

I use Lazarus 1.8.0 32/64 and FPC 3.0.3 32/64 on Linux Mint Mate 17 32/64, Windows 10, Windows 7 32/64, Windows XP 32,  FreeBSD 64 and Mac OS X Snow Leopard 32.
Widgetset: fpGUI, MSEgui, Win32, GTK2, Qt, Carbon.

Don't get me wrong Juha, I fully agree with you.
What I meant with respect is that I had a feeling someone is making a crusade out of getting his splashscreen in the project and is not accepting no for an answer.
Respect means that you have to accept decisions as they are made for good reason by others (in this case by the developers).
So indeed like you stated this is not democracy but I hope it will still this way.
OS: Windows 10 (64 bit) / Ubuntu 19.04 (64 bit)
Laz: Lazarus 2.0.4 FPC 3.0.4 i386-win32-win32/win64

Or it is me maybe  :-[

If there was a vote, i gonna choose for the actual splash-screen.
( if there is no beautiful picture of me, jumping in the sea with all of my girlfriends, of course  :-X ).

@ Juha : i love you and your beautiful splash-screen. I only want to propose you to change little things for version to version so it is easier to recognize what version is loading...

Of course those changes, you decide and maybe design it.

Quite frankly, the splash screen is very nice, now that I think about it.
It seems pretty well laid and the colors seem to be a good mix.

If it were just horrible or something, which it is not at all, then there would be more room for fussing over. But the truth is, I always, personally, liked the one we got. alway struck me as very professional. Certainly nothing to fuss over.

Definitely want to see the 'dictator' win in a squabble against the 'interior decorator issues' though.

Democracy or not. Right?

Hahahahaha

Hi, JuhaManninen, "Cool your jets, man!" (Bart Simpson)  :)
One way to protect your splash screen from unauthorized changes is doing something like i suggest in another post http://www.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php/topic,20576.msg119383.html#msg119383.
But be receptive when a good designer appears. He can be as good as you are programming, but in design, of course.

Sorry, my english isn't good yet.

Thats good advice too. Just understand that the cost benefit comes into play with 'changing your logo'. Not generally a wise move from an image standpoint. You would have to bring the goods, and show something really substantially better to warrant 'changing' of your logo. Especially considering how good it seems to me already, no?

Perhaps I meant 'Tell 'em who's boss Juha!'

Hahahaha

Ps. Even in a democracy you choose your leader for a particular amount of time to be a 'boss' for a season. It is not so we start voting on every single element of all things that come up. That is a dangerous application of 'democracy'.

It depend how you see democracy, in Switzerland they vote for single elements, in antic Greece too.

Something i do not like with actual dictator is that he does not respond to suggestions.

For example, there is a section in forum : suggestions.

Many times, other users and i asked to have a Multi-Media section in forum.

And there you have a point (not verified the statement, but no reason to doubt, so I believe this as you wrote)

But the problem is not a "dictator" (or some aristocrats, or whatever similar issue)

It more is in the direction: too many cooks spoil the broth

There is not a single person, there are several. Probably each thinknig another would, and then it got forgotten.
Or they thought it was cowered by an answer from some other user (never mind if it was, or if this thought was by total mistake)

I don't actually know, who all does forum admin at this time. Different members in the group have different things they take care of.

Will try and see, if I can find someone...

"Write once, Compile Anywhere"

What a tag line!
That's marketing gold right there. Certainly hope you got a patent or whatever on that. Oh, that's right, Lazarus is the only one able to make that claim...I forgot. Hahahaha

Honestly, I am no 'marketing guru' but that right there could be tagline of the century. Plus it is not just talk. Lazarus is the only known tool that can make this bold claim. Pretty funny when you think about it. Instead of marketing which is typically 'B.S. Based' it is a statement of a FACT. Hahaha.

Go ask a true marketing pro and I bet (assuming they understood the concept) they would be patting you on the back.

If anything with the logo you might consider is how to amplify the excellent tagline while retaining the original, maybe.

I mean, that seems likely what an honest marketing rep would advise I bet.

But that would mean they should be going 'how did they do that! Wish I could dream up a tagline like that just once'.

The question "Did you think Lazarus project is a democracy?" implies another one that is even more interesting:

"Do you think that Lazarus project should be a democracy?"
function GetRandomNumber: integer; // xkcd.com
begin
GetRandomNumber := 4; // chosen by fair dice roll. Guaranteed to be random.
end;

"Write Once, Compile Anywhere"

Whoever the genius is that came up with that, go over to the marketingguru.com and start a thread...

"Had it with the programming profession, leaving it for the marketing biz...so hand over my money"

Then just come right back and offer bounties from all the cash and won't even have to touch a key!

Hahahahahahahahaa

If the answer to the first is NO, the second doesn't matter   O:-)
