Advice about ioda or other text search libraries, please?
« on: May 10, 2020, 07:01:27 pm »
I'd like to request your kind advice about which library you recommend for full text search.

The job is an internal full text search system, for a few thousand long HTML files, used within a multi-platform project. (So I can't use DLL/so files, it has to be Pascal native code)

So far I found only one such library for FPC, called "ioda":

http://ioda.sourceforge.net/joda_intro.html

Is anyone familiar with this library? Is it reliable or buggy?

Alternatively, do you know about any other full text search engine libraries I can use? I'd also consider commercial components.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

"fpindexer".

Thanks! That's exactly the kind of thing I was looking for... :)

For some reason fpindexer was not in my package install/uninstall list, and it was also not listed in the online package manager (Lazarus 2.0.6). But I found it now and I'll start studying it.

Still, if anyone knows about other packages as well, or has any experience with ioda, I'd appreciate any advice very much, because I'd like to know the pros and cons of different solutions before I commit to a particular one.

Thanks again.
