FBLib (Firebird Library) repository has moved
« on: March 26, 2013, 10:18:02 am »
For years the FBLib (Firebird database library for Free Pascal, Delphi and Kylix) has lived in the 3rdParty directory tree of tiOPF (http://www.tiopf.com). We are cleaning up the tiOPF repository, and so I have now moved the FBLib project out to Github, into its own repository. The repository history is intact. I still need to add a few more patches I have locally, and some Lazarus based support apps.

All future development of FBLib will now happen on Github.

To get a copy of the code:

  git clone git://github.com/graemeg/firebird-lib.git

Here is a sample application created with FBLib. It allows Firebird services (manage users, retrieve server information, view log file, create backups), extract DDL data, view tables, run scripts. Lots of customisable options etc. I'm just preparing to commit this shortly. Attached is a screenshot of it running under FreeBSD.

I have just seen that  this morning.  I have been trying to get hold of you for a few years now.  I have some fixes for FBLib which I  would like you to merge.  Otherwise I  could email you a set of patches,  but I don't have your email address.

I'm guessing Graeme out of necessity (to support tiOPF with Firebird) as otherwise we'd surely have seen another announcement...

I would like to say it is still Alessandro's project, but he never responds to any of my emails (for years now), and hasn't applied any of the fixes I have in my repository of FBLib. The only thing Alessandro's repository has that is newer than mine, is the fenixsql support application. That is unfortunate.

Until Alessandro actually responds I'll keep applying fixes to the repository I have. I have very limited free time though, and too many other commercial and open source projects on my plate. If anybody else would like to contribute to the FBLib project, I will gladly apply patches or even give them write access to my repository. FBLib is a very good packages, but it needs an active maintainer. In the mean time FBLib, including other packages, are still being unit tested daily via the tiOPF's extensive test framework.
