port Comport component of Delphi to lazarus

i would like to use the Tcomport component of delphi in lazarus.

An old port (windows only): http://sourceforge.net/projects/cportlaz/
If you need serial communication, I suggest either libusb or synaser instead.

synaser is not event driven .

i have a GPS module connected to serial and it just sends data to my app.
here with synaser im not able to do it.

from the GPS i have to get the data in for of packets with a custom start and stop string which  i do it with delphi Tcomport but in lazarus im not able to do it ..
when i went through the forum and most of the programmers are sugesting synapse

plz let me know how to implement onrecieve event with synaser atleast references if any ..
