FastReport 4.13 - Add Lazarus Beta support

I write to comment that FastReport version 4.13 (from Fast Report Professionnal edition) Added support to Lazarus.

Because of the very low response, its seems to me that not much people actually working with FastReport under Lazarus/FPC

There are lots of people with LazReport, if I judge by the number of questions/problems with it. But FastReport is not free, that could be the problem..

LazReport is developed from FastReport - FreeReport (opensource) and AFAIK the only available report generator with integrated report editor for Lazarus/FPC for long time until FastReport decided to start a Lazarus port for their FastReport VCL4.13 version. So from this point it's understandable that most developers tried to use LazReport because there was nothing else.

In my opinion FastReport 4 is really mature and powerfull report generator and worth to pay for.

I was involved with FastReport for 10 years, so I know the product

It was more the thought that if the development software is free, the first go is for components that are free as well.
With the problems that LazReport seems to have, one would think that there is more interest for FastReport..

Near Utrecht, the Netherlands, organized by the Dutch Pascal user group. (same that publish Blaise magazine)

There is no formal roadmap, like in a commercial project, since there are no people to assign to certain tasks. People work voluntarily, and thus
set their own agenda.

Trunk FPC adds many newer delphi features, and some new architectures, but I doubt we'll see it as a release in 2013.

I have a Fast Report License already, so I tried it with Lazarus and it sort of worked,
I had a difficult time getting it installed.

It has potential and for people coming over from Delphi it would be a huge benefit to be able to easily port over fast report apps from Delphi.

I will keep watching it and see how it progresses.

Are you in closer contact with the FR guys? Do you send support tickets to them? Actually it seems to me that the developer Den Zubov do not read nor answer the support tickets.

Yep.. and with only one version of the product, priced at $ 249,- (VCL has a simpler version at 79 dollar) looks like FR does not really want to become the number one reporting product.
