Ubuntu and Dash Home

I have followed the advise of several here (and copied what a few applications seem to do) of where to install my app in Ubuntu 10.04

/usr/Shared/{myApp}/Link to myapp
/usr/bin/myapp

How do I get the Dash Home to find it when you search for applications?

I guess creating a .desktop entry will do it? See: http://developer.gnome.org/integration-guide/stable/desktop-files.html.en
