TMemDataset woes

Hi, .... ultra newbie here.  I am use to using kbmMemTables in Delphi 4.  Should I be able to use TMemDatasets in the same way?

I ask because I dropped one on a form.  Dropped on a Datasource and linked them.  Added two fields.  All ran fine.  But if I add any data-aware components (Grid, edits etc) the program crashes as soon as I enter some information.

Am I missing some setting in the MemDataset?  Is the filename mandatory?
any suggestions would be appreciated.

Jim

So .... can anyone at least send me (or point me to) some source code that uses a TMemDataset so that I can see it in action and work out my own troubles?
thanks
Jim

Thanks to all for the .... information.  Or lack.  I'll check back in a year or so and see if this has picked up any.  In the mean time ... back to Delphi and SharpDevelop.
