Anyone try to install lazarus on Banana Pi
« on: September 03, 2014, 01:07:15 pm »
Banana Pi is like Repberry Pi single board computer, but use ARM V7 CPU, Respberry use ARM V6.
http://www.bananapi.org/
Compared to Respberry Banana Pi Have:
ARM V7 Dual Core 1GHz CPU
1 GB RAM
Camera Connection
TFT Connection
SATA
GBit LAN
I like to buy one, but don'y know if lazarus can be built and run on this device.

This page mentions "Lubuntu, Raspbian, Archlinux, openSUSE and other operation systems", so yes, Lazarus can be installed at least from distro repo.

With Lubuntu_1404_For_BananaPi_v3_1_1.img and

apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
apt-get install fpc
apt-get install lazarus

I got fpc 2.6.2 and Lazarus 1.0.10. (See screenshot (SSH-X-forwarded ARM-Lazarus Aboutbox towards Windows, therefore the Windows border)).
Not the freshest one,  but it works well.
CodeTyphon 4.92 does not yet support ARM Host systems. ( Tried it, messed up everything instead of quitting due to unsupported Host architecture - had to reflash the SD-Card finally).

By the way: A compiled simple graphical test application, compiled on Lubuntu BananaPi (ARM7) also runs unmodified on Raspbian Raspberry Pi (ARM6), without re-compilation, so that tells something about the fpc-ARM-compiler.

Hi rain
Can you compare Banana vs Respberry: quality, preformance, etc.
Or maybe suggest some other board
I will mostly use board for home automation and TV media extensions
FPC trunk 2.7.1 have more ARM improvements

... and fpcup will run on odroid and happily install fpc trunk+Lazarus trunk for you; see
http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Odroid

Edit: note: although the fpcup armhf binary probably works for other boards as well IIRC, just haven't tested it...
