Debian Squeeze (6) x64, and x86 with Xfce

Edit: I think you can add a poll/questionnaire to your post when you write it. You could ask people that way as well, might give interesting results.

I use OpenSUSE 12.2 which initially came with KDE 4.x, but I now run JWM (Joe's Window Manager) instead of KDE. Much nicer (plain) theme, much faster, very low resources (<8MB). Cold boot from GRUB menu to desktop is 2.5 seconds (who needs suspend support!). My menus are customized to my most used items, but I also have a small script I can run on demand that converts freedekstop.org menu structure into a JWM menu include file, which forms a sub-menu of the main menu. A fantastic setup!

I voted Debian as most the enviroments I use from day to day basis are derivatives of Debian
based disto's. However I have to box setup to run slackware in a KDE enviroment as well not
to mention one of my laptop units sports Backtrack 5. Hands Down I prefer a Linux Mint 14
KDE envirment for Lazarus.  Its the only envirment that install and confirguration was flawless
not to mention stable has been rock solid in my books.

System Hardware
Dell Inspiron i3 N5050
Corsair Force 3 SSD
8gb Ram

I voted "other" as I use multiple Linux distributions, openSUSE 11 and Ubuntu on a standard Intel PC and Raspbian on a Raspberry PI (apart from Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 7, Mac OS X Tiger, Mac OS X Leopard and Mac OS X Snow Leopard on distinct machines).

All of them support Lazarus and Free Pascal and they do it well!
function GetRandomNumber: integer; // xkcd.com
begin
GetRandomNumber := 4; // chosen by fair dice roll. Guaranteed to be random.
end;

I use Ubuntu, Scientific Linux, Mint, CentOS, Win 7, OS X and  Raspbian recently. All these virtualized in the same laptop  :D.

For best performance, I bought my raspberry pi and works :), but the version in the repositories are not 1.0 yet.  :(

I have recently switched slightly, from Ubuntu 10.04 LTS to Xubuntu 12.04 LTS.

The Xfce UI is more familiar to the Gnome I knew from Ubuntu 7.04 through 10.04.

I run Ubuntu Server on my servers, an LTS release there as well.

Why depends on repository while you can build one yourself?

Leledumbo What do you suggest to do?, I want to install the latest version of Lazarus and FPC on my raspberry pi Raspbian (ARMHF) What packages do I need to download?, This because in my house the bandwidth is very limited . And why not? then update the repository.

Thanks in advance

Mageia is missing. I think that most people that used Mandriva now migrated to Mageia and it is the 2nd most popular in www.distrowatch.com behind Mint.

They already suggested what to do...

Why depends on repository while you can build one yourself?

I.E. Download the source code for Lazarus and Free Pascal, compile the source code, install from the custom binaries which result.
