This is a very good ideea. Also make sure to include the patch made by ludob regarding https over proxy on linux: http://www.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php/topic,12333.15.html
You should  first contact Lukas Gebauer and let him know about your intentions.

Hi mdalacu.
I think that his consent is unnecessary in license.
And I would like to make it only for FPC/Lazarus(without Delphi). :)

Do you have SVN write access to the Lazarus CCR? Please make sure to add this patch that I am attaching. It has been waiting since 1 month to be applied =(

I think I will also add LNet to the Lazarus-CCR.

One idea is simply starting a new project in source forge or Google code. It is free in both sites, and both offer SVN.

Please patch ssfpc.inc using instructions in this thread: http://www.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php/topic,12333.15.html , from posts 18 & 22.
Without this patch you can't download anything through proxy and https on linux.

Nice initiative, guys; you might want to add an external link to the wiki page
http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/Synapse
so more people will know about it and perhaps contribute...

I'd also suggest (if you haven't done so) sending a message to the synapse mailing list informing Lukas Gebauer and everybody else that you're doing this. This might help getting the changes in the google code branch merged back into synapse as fast as possible...

Thanks,
BigChimp

@malcome, looking at your commit messages in google code, your English is fine ;)

I updated the synapse wiki page for you.

You might send something like this to the Synapse mailing list:

Quote
Dear all,

I'm involved in programming network applications with Synapse in FPC/Lazarus.

Thanks for a great library. However, it seems some patches do not end up very quickly in the development svn repository.

In order to more quickly test and implement improvements, with a focus on FPC/Lazarus (not Delphi), I've started up a fork at http://code.google.com/p/synapse4lazarus/

See here: http://lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php/topic,16032.0.html
for a discussion on this on the Lazarus forum.
Note that I would love to get these improvements back into official Synapse; please contact me via the Google code page or Lazarus forum whenever you want.

Thanks,
malcome
